Jan Schakowsky, a Democrat who represents Illinois’ Ninth District, authored a Jan. 15 letter to U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson in which they voiced support for a motion filed by Parlak’s attorney with the Board of Immigration Appeals to have Parlak’s case reopened and re-examined.
