Governor appoints Jarbou and Matis to Sixth Circuit Court
Jarbou currently serves as assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Drug Task Force Unit, and previously served in the General Crimes Unit. She also serves as an instructor for the National Advocacy Center. Prior to her work for the Department of Justice, Jarbou served in the Circuit Court Division of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Wayne State University Law School.
Matis has practiced law at Garan Lucow Miller PC in Troy since 2012, with a focus on civil defense in state and federal courts. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and vice chairman of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. He was a Rochester city councilman from 2007 to 2010. He earned his bachelor's degree in business from Oakland University and his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
Jarbou fills the seat vacated by Judge Colleen O'Brien and must seek election in November 2016 for a full term. Matis fills the seat vacated by Judge Rudy Nichols and must seek election in November 2016 for the remainder of the term expiring in 2020.
